For Children and Adolescents
The program addresses nutrition education and aspects related to physical activity as a factor of well-being and health.
Food is a cultural fact that defines every social group. In their families and their social groups, children adopt lifelong habits regarding mealtimes, meal frequency, methods of meal preparation, and acceptable ingredients.
If the family environment plays a key role in early childhood, then the enlargement of the relational circle also influences a child’s eating behavior. Schools and homes are therefore two important places for nutrition education. To develop knowledge that will allow children to make informed, responsible health-related choices, prevention and nutrition education actions must be planned in the long term.
In response, Althalia has designed the Nutrition Education module for children and their parents.
Benefits of the program
The module offers a first family visit with a nutritionist in Althalia’s network to assess the family’s nutritional habits, lifestyle, and routines, as well as the child’s academic status. This consultation aims to establish a plan of action for the child and his or her family toward possible modifications of habits and behaviors. Four additional visits with the same nutritionist are also included.
Eating well means adopting a varied, balanced diet of foods beneficial to your health (i.e., fruits, vegetables, carbohydrates, fish) and limiting the consumption of sweets, sugary drinks, salty snacks and appetizers, and fatty foods such as sausages, butter, and cream. This balanced diet is not built during a single meal or in a single day, but over several weeks. It takes into account disturbances due to professional and personal activities and daily stress.
The Adult Nutrition module is designed to respond to dietary imbalances (e.g., management of overweight and obesity) by taking into account the family and professional context. Althalia’s nutritionists can offer personalized plans.
Benefits of the program
The module includes a first visit with a nutritionist in Althalia’s network to assess your nutritional habits and lifestyle, your sociocultural and professional contexts, and your pace of life. The consultation aims to establish a personalized action plan to change your habits and behaviors. The module also includes four additional visits with the same nutritionist.
